Day 06: Bangalore - Hassan |
After breakfast drive to Hassan via Sravanabelagola - This is one of the most popular Jain pilgrimage center in South India, an is known for its collossal monolithic statue of Gomateswara, on top of a hill. The image of Gomateswara is an awe inspiring one. Carved out of a single block of granite, this 50 feet high statue. Overnight stay. |
Day 07: Hassan - Mysore |
After breakfast sightseeing of Belur and Halebid. Twin temple towns of Belur and Halebid for a glimpse of Hindu temple art at its glorious best. In the 16th century, Belur-Halebid (both towns are spoken of in the same breath) were at the heart of the throbbing Hoysala empire.
The most outstanding temple in Belur is the Chenakeshava, a monumental edifice that took 103 years to build, possibly because of the intricate details and the myriads of friezes and sculptures that embellish the temple walls.
About 16 km away from Belur is Halebid, the other temple town, equally magnificent but not as well preserved. Halebid was the capital of the Hoysalas till it was destroyed in the early 14th century after attacks by the Delhi Sultanate.

After breakfast sightseeing of Cochin, The colonial influence of Cochin becomes evident when you visit the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1567, housing the Grand Scrolls of the Old Testament and the Dutch Palace, with its 17th century murals of the Ramayana. Also visit St Francis' Church, where the Portuguese sailor Vasco da Gama was first buried. Evening attend a Kathakali performance, a traditional dance of Kerala. Overnight stay. |
Day 12: Cochin - Alleppey |
After breakfast drive to Alleppey and embark on to your houseboat. Cruise in the backwaters traversing the narrow canals, viewing the village life of Kerala. Overnight On board the Houseboat. |
Day 13: Alleppey |
Full day on Cruise. Overnight in House boat. |
